With the popularity of home-grown video content becoming a staple on many social media sites, indie authors are amping up their content creation skills using tools such as those available through Vimeo Create and Adobe Spark.
I’ve recently discovered the benefits of Vimeo Create for making quick book trailers, drawing from Vimeo’s libraries of videos, images, and music. The price of admission is at least a Pro plan subscription, but you can likely recoup that expense just in free stock video, some of it very high quality clips from Getty. The book in this case is a fictional work from Lee Rawn, The Solstice Conspiracy.
The development process is quick and easy, with numerous templates covering many business types, but one disadvantage is that you’re stuck with their music with no way to produce voiceovers, limiting you to text overlays to communicate with viewers. Spark is more flexible in that regard, allowing you to upload your own music or voiceovers.
It’s definitely worth a try if you want to dip your toe into video creation and you may be surprised by how easy it is.
