Video is becoming an increasingly important component of websites and blogs, but people tend to get intimidated by the tools and techniques that need to be mastered to get good results. Now that high-quality video images can be captured by many digital cameras and mobile phones, anyone with a good sense of composition and a willingness to expand their skills a bit to improve results can generate compelling content.

Place matters for business, so even if you operate a small-scale business out of your home or have a business location in a revitalized section of the city, the story of your surroundings and local history can ground your offering for customers. This holds true even if you’re primarily working remotely, maintaining a virtual presence online without actually meeting customers in person.

The Tour of the St. James Cemetery video offers a glimpse into the history of the town in which my business resides: Arlington, Vermont. The tools used for the production are minimal:

  • Apple iPhone SE
  • OSMO Mobile 2 Gimbal
  • Screenflow video editing application
  • Propellerhead Reason 10 (for softsynth music production)

Future  articles in this series will explore how to use these tools effectively for small-footprint video production, including insights into getting the best results from easily accessible tools.
